Job Summary:
The Pediatric ICU Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse
responsible for providing safe, competent, and high-quality care
based on nursing theory and research. The RN will utilize a
patient-centered approach to deliver comprehensive nursing care in
collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Provide patient care following the professional practice model
of Relationship-Centered Care.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs while applying critical
thinking in care management.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team in developing and
implementing care plans.
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding care plans,
transition of care, and health promotion.
- Manage patient assignments effectively under the Modified
Primary Nursing Care Delivery Model.
Patient Experience:
- Facilitate Mount Sinai Relationship-Centered Care (MSHRCC)
protocols.
- Ensure patient values, preferences, and cultural diversity are
respected.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and
families.
- Utilize evidence-based practices to enhance patient experience
and satisfaction.
- Conduct Purposeful Hourly Rounding (PHR) and service recovery
when needed.
Quality & Safety:
- Deliver patient-centered care while identifying and escalating
barriers.
- Demonstrate proficiency in critical care nursing skills and
quality assurance.
- Engage in quality improvement projects, institutional reviews,
and research.
- Follow institutional safety protocols and escalate potential
hazards.
- Document nursing practice in compliance with hospital IT
systems.
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in New York State .
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU/Critical Care experience
.
- Proficiency in clinical procedures such as venipuncture,
urinary catheterization, and CPR.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking
skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity pediatric ICU
environment.
- Physical ability to stand, lift, stoop, push, and respond
quickly in emergencies.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
and basic data entry systems.
Certifications Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA HonorVet
